Bitcoin Cash Fork

The upcoming Bitcoin Cash fork has originated from conflicting consensus changes between different Bitcoin Cash development teams. As no consensus was reached, a hard fork will occur on the 15th of November around 4:40 PM GMT (epoch 1542300000), resulting in two several separate Bitcoin Cash chains, Bitcoin ABC (BCHABC) & Bitcoin Satoshi Vision (BCHSV). Eventually, one of these would be the dominant chain.

What is Bitcoin Cash?

Bitcoin Cash is a peer-to-peer electronic cash system. It's a permissionless, decentralized cryptocurrency that requires no trusted third parties and no central bank. On August 1st, 2017, a large portion of the Bitcoin community, including developers, investors, users, and businesses, took the logical step of increasing the maximum block size, and Bitcoin Cash was born. Anyone who held Bitcoin at that time (block 478558) became an owner of Bitcoin Cash (BCH), which was announced by Airdropalert in this Bitcoin Cash listing.

How to claim with the local wallet Electron Cash?

If you were holding BCH on the Electron Cash wallet before November 15th, you can claim BCHABC & BCHSV if you own the private key, at your own risk.

The Electron Cash software is already compatible with both the Bitcoin Cash (BCH) network as well as the new BSV network.

It is advised to proceed cautiously after the fork date to make sure the network is running smoothly, with extra confirmations allowed. It is also advised to use small amounts at first and make sure you're on the right network..

IMPORTANT: There is no replay protection between the two competing networks. This means that if you send a transaction on either the BCH or BSV network, your coins could also move on the other network. Read carefully the Electron Cash Instructions for Safe Storage, Transfer and Coin Splitting.

How to claim with the Ledger hardware wallet?

If you were holding BCH on the Ledger wallet before November 15th and you do not intend to perform transactions with your Bitcoin Cash assets during this service interruption, no further action will be required. This means that you will not be able to use your Bitcoin Cash account during the service suspension. You will be able to monitor when Bitcoin Cash will be back online on the Ledger Status page. Read carefully the official Ledger announcement

How to claim with the Trezor hardware wallet?

If you are a Trezor user with bitcoin cash holdings, there are a couple of things you should be aware of regarding the hard fork:

Trezor does not recommend transacting shortly before and in the following days after the hard fork until things settle.

The Trezor Wallet servers run the Bitcoin ABC (Bitcoin Cash) nodes and will follow the Bitcoin ABC chain. If you need to transact on the ABC chain, you can use their service. It cannot be guaranteed the transaction will appear on other chains. On the other hand, it cannot be guaranteed it will not appear on other chains, either. Be careful!

Because Bitcoin Cash developers have not implemented protection against replay attacks, Trezor will not provide a claiming tool for safe coin-splitting between chains. If a different chain emerges, you will automatically have coins available on all chains after the hard fork (not replay-protected).

For further information about the Fork, please refer to the official Trezor announcement.

How to claim using exchanges?

Hold your BCH coins on an exchange that supports both hard forks and will credit you with both possibly forked chains.

Please, refer to the respective exchange announcements about the exact time of the snapshots as there are small differences between some exchanges and also about deposit and withdrawal freezes.

The major exchanges below will support the fork and credit you both coins in case of a chain split:

-Bittrex: Read carefully the official announcement.
-Poloniex: Read carefully the official announcement.
-Coinbase: Read carefully the official announcement.
-HitBTC: Read carefully the official announcement.
-Liquid: Read carefully the official announcement.

The major exchanges below will support the fork, but it is not clear if they will credit you both coins in case of a split or if they only conduct the Bitcoin ABC maintenance upgrade fork:

-Binance: Read carefully the official announcement.
-Bitfinex: Read carefully the official announcement
-Huobi: Read carefully the official announcement.
-OKEx: Read carefully the official announcement.
-KuCoin: Read carefully the official announcement.

BitMex exchange will only support the ABC full node implementation and definitely not credit any SV coins. Read carefully the official announcement

Please, keep in mind that the list of exchanges above is not complete.
