zkSync Testnet
zkSync has announced the release of a native zkSync Token. The mainnet will launch on October 28 and it has been hinted that there will be an Airdrop.
When zkSync becomes fully decentralized, the token will be used for staking in order to become a validator in the zkSync network. More details to come.
About zkSync
zkSync is a zero-knowledge (ZK) Rollup protocol, a Layer-3 scaling solution in which all funds are held by a smart contract on Ethereum, while computation and storage are performed off-chain. Everything that’s possible on Ethereum can also be done on zkSync, only faster, cheaper, and at scale. zkSync users will be able to pay transaction cheaper fees with tokens besides $ETH, with the security and decentralization of Ethereum.
zkSync 2.0 introduces the zkEVM which allows developers to deploy Solidity smart contracts on zkSync. This means any application on Ethereum today can easily be moved over to zkSync with minimal to zero code changes.

Step by step guide
- Go to ChainList.org, switch to Testnets & Connect your Metamask wallet.
- Search for zkSync Alpha Testnet network & Add it to Metamask. * It s important to use a wallet without real funds for testing purposes.
- Request Funds from the zkSync Faucet for testing. You can also request 0.1 Goerli ETH Testnet funds every 24h on the Goerli Faucet with a free Alchemy account. The faucet will not work with new Twitter accounts & accounts without an avatar.
- Now, go to Portal.zkSync.io/bridge and Switch your Metamask to the Goerli Testnet network. Bridge All your $Testnet ETH from the Goerli testnet to the @zksync one. It s can take up to 5 mins, be patient.
- Switch back your Metamsk to the zkSync Alpha Testnet network & Start interacting with the different zkSync 2.0 Testnet Applications protocols like minting your own NFT on MintSquare.io as an example, Swapping Tokens on 1kx.exchange as an example, get LP tokens SpaceFi.io as an example, staking, trading on Phezzan.xyz as an example, and borrowing, or playing a mini-game on Tevaera.
