Bittensor
Bittensor is gearing up for its first-ever halving, an event that will reduce $TAO rewards by 50 % across its decentralized AI network. Daily emissions will fall from around 7,200 TAO to 3,600 TAO, reducing new rewards for miners, validators, and stakers alike.
This milestone marks a turning point for the project’s economy — a shift toward sustainability and maturity that mirrors Bitcoin’s design philosophy.
Bittensor reimagines how artificial intelligence is created and rewarded.
In a world where AI innovation is often dominated by a few large corporations and costly infrastructures, Bittensor opens access to everyone — from solo developers to global teams — through a shared, incentive-driven network.
Participants earn $TAO for contributing useful computation power or high-quality machine-learning outputs, making intelligence itself a tradable, decentralized resource.
Founded by Jacob Robert Steeves and Ala Shaabana, Bittensor introduces a new concept called Proof-of-Intelligence — where participants are rewarded not for computational waste, but for measurable intelligence.
The network is structured as a collection of independent subnets, each forming its own AI economy:
• Miners provide machine-learning outputs or models.
• Validators evaluate results and distribute rewards based on quality.
• Subnet creators design unique incentive systems.
• Stakers delegate $TAO to validators, earning a share of their results.
As more users join, subnets become increasingly specialized — improving both performance and diversity. Every interaction is recorded on-chain, ensuring transparency while rewarding innovation instead of centralized control.
The native token $TAO powers staking, delegation, registration, and governance. Its maximum supply is capped at 21 million, with approximately 1 TAO emitted per block (every 12 seconds).
According to the emission model, new rewards are distributed every 360 blocks — 41 % to miners, 41 % to validators and stakers, and 18 % to subnet owners.
TAO used for subnet registration or network operations is recycled into the emission pool, maintaining a balanced and sustainable reward flow.

Step by step guide Bittensor Airdrop
Staking → The Easiest Way to Earn Passively
Staking lets you earn from network activity without running infrastructure.
– Step 1: Set up your wallet → Download the Bittensor Wallet — the official wallet maintained by the OpenTensor Foundation (OTF) — to generate your coldkey (for storage) and hotkey (for staking). Bittensor is also compatible with Polkadot multi-chain wallets, including Talisman. You can also use MathWallet for mobile and browser access, or Ledger for maximum security.
– Step 2: Acquire $TAO → Buy $TAO from exchanges such as Binance, Bitget, Gate or Kraken, then transfer it to your cold wallet.
– Step 3: Delegate to a validator → Browse validator performance on Taostats.io — a trusted community dashboard referenced across the ecosystem for tracking subnets and staking data. You can delegate directly through btcli or use the delegation interface.
Validators typically charge a 10–20 % commission, and rewards are distributed automatically. You can withdraw your stake anytime. Check out the stake management guide.
Mining → Advanced but Highly Rewarding
Mining in Bittensor means contributing real AI computation rather than POW hashing.
– Step 1: Prepare your setup → Use a GPU-based Subnet server with stable bandwidth and uptime. Create your coldkey and hotkey to secure your rewards.
– Step 2: Register and run your miner → Register your hotkey on a subnet using BTCLI to obtain a UID slot. Each subnet has limited capacity, so only the most efficient remain active.
– Step 3: Contribute AI tasks → Run the miner software to process validator requests. Your performance is continuously benchmarked, and high-scoring miners receive more $TAO.
This system gives smaller AI teams access to compute rewards and infrastructure that would otherwise be prohibitively expensive — making AI development open, scalable, and inclusive.
