Bitunix vs Bitget: Which Exchange Wins in 2026?

July 24, 2026
Bitunix vs Bitget

Updated September 24, 2026, after Bitget confirmed a hack worth around $350 million.

Bitunix vs Bitget used to be a features-only debate. Both exchanges chase the same active traders, both partner with AirdropAlert on rewards, and both had clean security records. That last part changed on September 24, 2026, when an attacker drained Bitget’s hot and cold wallets. Bitget still owns copy trading and the deeper catalog. Bitunix still brings higher leverage, optional KYC and cheaper spot fees. What’s new is that trust now belongs in the comparison. This rewrite covers fees, products, security and rewards with the hack factored in.

Quick verdict: Bitunix wins for leverage, privacy, spot costs and, for now, peace of mind. Bitget wins for copy trading, launchpool farming and coin selection. Read the deep dives in our Bitunix review and Bitget review.

Trading Fees: Still a Tie

Nothing changed here. Both exchanges charge 0.02% maker and 0.06% taker on futures. Spot is where the small gap sits. Bitunix charges 0.08% maker to everyone. Bitget starts at 0.10% and only reaches 0.08% if you pay fees in BGB. So Bitunix hands you the discount, while Bitget asks you to hold its token first. VIP tiers cut both schedules further. On cost, call it even, with a slight Bitunix edge for traders who don’t want a token in their account.

Security: The Section That Rewrote Itself

Two months ago, this section said both records were clean. Bitget’s no longer is. On September 24, 2026, an attacker moved funds out of Bitget hot and cold wallets across several chains. Total losses came to around $350 million. Withdrawals stalled for hours while users waited for news. We covered the whole timeline in our Bitget hack report.

Bitget does have a cushion. Its Protection Fund holds 5,500 BTC, worth about $351 million in July 2026. CEO Gracy Chen says user funds are not at risk. If that promise holds, customers get made whole, but the fund will be nearly drained doing it. Bitget also publishes monthly proof of reserves above 120% coverage, which helps.

Bitunix keeps its record intact. Since launching in 2021, it has recorded no breach and no freeze scandal. It runs live proof of reserves and a care fund of roughly $30 million. Being younger and smaller cuts both ways, but on the question that matters most right now, Bitunix has nothing to explain.

Both are custodial exchanges, so neither is a vault. Our self custody vs exchange guide covers how to keep long-term coins away from that risk entirely.

Copy Trading and Products: Bitget’s Strength Survives

The hack doesn’t touch Bitget’s product edge. It runs the largest verified copy trading ecosystem in crypto. Around 130,000 elite traders publish full public stats, and more than a million copiers follow them across futures, spot and CFDs. The 1,300+ coin catalog more than doubles Bitunix’s, and derivatives liquidity ranks among the top five worldwide.

Bitunix plays a leaner game. Leverage reaches 200x against Bitget’s 125x. Basic trading works without KYC, which Bitget requires for everything. The interface is built for execution rather than a sprawling app full of side products. Copy traders and catalog hunters still get more from Bitget. Leverage and privacy traders get more from Bitunix.

Bonuses and Rewards: Two Partner Pipelines

We work directly with both exchanges, and each pays in a different way.

Bitget has the fuller stack. Launchpool, PoolX and Launchpad distribute new tokens to stakers on a regular schedule. New users can also claim a welcome package worth up to 6,200 USDT through our Bitget partner page.

Bitunix favors deposit bonuses and trading competitions, several of them run with us. Every live offer sits on our Bitunix project page.

Launchpool farmers will prefer Bitget. Traders who want a straight deposit bonus will find Bitunix pays out more often. Running both pipelines is still the smart play, as long as balances stay lean.

Bitunix vs Bitget: Final Words

So, Bitunix vs Bitget: who takes it now? Before the hack, this split cleanly by feature. It still does, but with a new tiebreaker. Bitget remains the pick for copy trading, launchpool farming and catalog depth. Bitunix remains the pick for high leverage, optional KYC and token-free cheap fees.

The tiebreaker is trust. Bitunix hasn’t lost a dollar of user funds. Bitget just lost $350 million of its own and is leaning on its Protection Fund to cover users. Until the dust settles, Bitunix gets the nod for anyone deciding where to park trading capital this month. Keep an eye on how Bitget handles the recovery. A clean payout would go a long way toward restoring its standing.
