Hyperliquid vs Trade.xyz: Native Perps or HIP-3 Markets?

October 27, 2026
Trade.xyz runs on Hyperliquid, so this isn't a rivalry. We explain native perps vs HIP-3 markets and how one trade farms two airdrops.

This comparison works differently from the rest of our series. Trade.xyz isn’t a rival to Hyperliquid. It runs on top of it. Through Hyperliquid’s HIP-3 framework, Trade.xyz lists perps on stocks, indices, gold and even pre-IPO companies, all on Hyperliquid’s own infrastructure.

So the real question isn’t which exchange wins. It’s which markets and front end suit your trading. This Hyperliquid vs Trade.xyz guide explains how the two connect, where they differ, and how one position can count toward two potential airdrops.

The Straight Answer

Hyperliquid native perps are the better choice for crypto trading, with the deepest liquidity and the widest coin selection in DeFi. Trade.xyz is the better choice for traditional markets, offering 24/7 perps on stocks, indices, commodities and pre-IPO names. Because Trade.xyz runs on Hyperliquid, you can use both from one wallet and one USDC balance.

Both platforms have a dedicated review on the site. Read our Hyperliquid review for the base layer, and our Trade.xyz review for the stock perp side. Here, we look at how they fit together.

How HIP-3 Connects Them

HIP-3 lets independent teams deploy their own perp markets on Hyperliquid. Deployers stake a large amount of HYPE, then choose the markets, oracles and fee settings. Trading still happens on Hyperliquid’s matching engine, and settlement stays in USDC.

Trade.xyz, built by the Hyperunit team behind Hyperliquid’s spot asset infrastructure, moved first and fastest. It now handles most HIP-3 activity. HIP-3 markets have grown to roughly a third of Hyperliquid’s open interest and about half its volume. In short, Trade.xyz has become one of Hyperliquid’s biggest growth engines.

Markets: Crypto vs Wall Street

Hyperliquid’s native side covers crypto. Hundreds of perps range from BTC and ETH to fresh listings, plus a growing spot market. If a coin has real demand, you’ll probably find it here.

Trade.xyz covers everything else. You can trade single-stock perps like Nvidia and Tesla, index perps, gold, silver and pre-IPO companies. In March 2026, it launched the first officially licensed S&P 500 perp on-chain, under agreement with S&P Dow Jones Indices.

The standout feature is timing. US stock markets close at 4pm Eastern and sleep all weekend. Trade.xyz markets never close, so you can react to Sunday headlines before Monday’s open.

Edge: depends on what you trade.

Fees and Trading Costs

Hyperliquid’s native perps start at 0.045% taker and 0.015% maker. Volume tiers and HYPE staking lower those rates.

HIP-3 markets work a little differently. Each deployer sets its own fee structure and shares in the revenue. That means Trade.xyz fees don’t always match Hyperliquid’s native rates. Check the fee on each market before you trade, especially if you plan to run high volume.

Funding matters more on stock perps, too. Hourly funding keeps prices anchored to the underlying asset. Hold a leveraged position for weeks, and those payments add up.

Edge: Hyperliquid native, for predictable costs.

Risks Worth Knowing

Trading on Trade.xyz means stacking two layers of risk. First, you carry Hyperliquid’s platform risk, since everything runs on its chain. Second, you rely on Trade.xyz’s market setup, including its oracles.

Off-hours pricing deserves attention. When Wall Street closes, the oracle has no live stock price to follow. Weekend moves can gap hard at Monday’s open. Leverage caps on stock perps also sit lower than on major crypto pairs.

Keep in mind that stock perps give price exposure only. You don’t own shares, receive dividends or get voting rights.

Hyperliquid itself faces a concentration question. So much HIP-3 activity flows through one builder that any Trade.xyz issue would ripple across the ecosystem.

Airdrops: One Trade, Two Tickets

This is where the pairing gets interesting for farmers. HYPE already launched, and Hyperliquid’s Genesis airdrop gave away 31% of supply in November 2024. The community still positions for another round. Our Hyperliquid Season 3 airdrop tracker covers the latest.

Trade.xyz has no token and no official points program. Many farmers still expect one eventually, given the team’s central role in Hyperliquid’s growth. Our Trade.xyz airdrop listing follows any news.

Here’s the double dip. HIP-3 volume runs through Hyperliquid, so a Trade.xyz trade counts as Hyperliquid activity too. One position builds history on both platforms. Pair a long and a short across correlated markets, and you farm with little directional risk. Our delta-neutral airdrop farming guide walks through that approach.

Edge: Trade.xyz for untapped upside, since it stacks on top of Hyperliquid.
