Trump Media Sells Bitcoin? $342M Moved, WLFI Buys Back, and Justin Sun Strikes Again

November 6, 2026
4,259 BTC left Trump Media’s collateral wallets for Crypto.com. Add the WLFI buyback, Witkoff’s unlock tease and Justin Sun’s sanctions bid, from a holder heading to the DC gala.

Did Trump Media sell its Bitcoin? Nobody can prove it yet. What the chain shows is 4,259 BTC, worth about $342 million at the time, leaving wallets labeled as loan collateral and landing at Crypto.com on November 5. That alone would be a story. Then World Liberty Financial announced a WLFI buyback the same day, Zach Witkoff hinted at an earlier unlock, and Justin Sun filed for sanctions against WLFI over a surprise UAE citizenship claim. Three Trump crypto headlines in 48 hours, two days after Democrats took Congress. Here is what each one means, from someone who still holds both tokens.

What Trump Media Actually Moved

Arkham data shows two transfers of 2,140.03 BTC and 2,119.31 BTC from wallets it labels “2028 Convertible Notes Collateral.” Both went to an address attributed to Crypto.com at around 02:17 UTC on November 5. Crypto.com has custodied Trump Media’s Bitcoin since the company announced its $2.5 billion Bitcoin treasury plan in May 2025, so the destination itself is not unusual.

The size is. Trump Media last reported about 14,139 BTC on July 31. This batch is roughly 30% of that stash. It is also almost exactly the 4,260.73 BTC the company said it had pledged as collateral for its convertible notes as of June 30.

Trump Media has done this twice before. In May 2026, about 2,650 BTC went to Crypto.com. In August, another 2,628 BTC followed. Both times a spokesperson called it custody and trading management rather than a sale. This time, the company has not commented at all.

So the honest answer to “did Trump Media sell Bitcoin” is: not confirmed, but the coins just left the one place they were supposed to stay.

Why November 30 Matters

The timing explains the nerves. Trump Media’s November 2 filing disclosed that holders of its convertible notes can demand cash repayment on November 30. If everyone exercises that right, the bill is roughly $1 billion. The notes carried a value of about $964.9 million at the end of June.

The filing also said the quiet part out loud. If refinancing or other measures fall short, Trump Media may have to sell Bitcoin or other digital assets to cover the gap. Moving the collateral coins to an exchange three weeks before that deadline is exactly what you would do if a sale were on the table. It is also what you would do if you were preparing to re-pledge or refinance. Both readings fit.

Meanwhile, DJT stock sits at record lows, and Bitcoin itself fell to $75,000 on Thursday after an AI stock rout triggered more than $1 billion in crypto liquidations. We covered the post-midterm Bitcoin reaction on election night. A forced seller holding 14,000 BTC does not help that chart.

My read: watch the Crypto.com address, not the press releases. If those coins move to a market maker or get split into exchange hot wallets, that is a sale. If they sit, it is collateral management. Either way, we will know by December 1.

WLFI Buyback: Burn Baby Burn

While Trump Media shuffled Bitcoin, World Liberty Financial announced a new WLFI buyback program on X. The initial allocation may be funded by fees earned on the reserves backing USD1, plus other sources. The stated goal is to encourage governance participation and concentrate voting power among long-term holders.

Zach Witkoff quoted the announcement with three words: “Burn baby burn.” The official post did not mention a burn, a dollar amount, a schedule, or a start date. Witkoff’s quote tweet is the only hint that repurchased tokens get destroyed rather than held.

This is not WLFI’s first buyback. By April, the project had disclosed about $65.6 million in open-market purchases, roughly 435 million tokens at an average near $0.15. WLFI trades at $0.046 today. Those earlier buybacks sit about 70% underwater, which tells you how much a buyback alone can do against a broken narrative.

Still, the USD1 angle is real. We reviewed the stablecoin in our USD1 review, and the reserve yield on several billion dollars of Treasuries is a legitimate income stream. If WLFI routes a meaningful slice of it into buybacks, that changes the supply math. If it is a few million here and there, it changes nothing.

Is the WLFI Unlock Coming Early?

The more interesting Witkoff post came in the replies. When an account asked why WLFI would not consider unlocking tokens earlier, Witkoff answered: “Stay tuned my friend. You may be pleasantly surprised.”

Context for newer readers. Presale buyers received 20% of their WLFI at launch in September 2025. The remaining 80% stayed locked, and a governance vote this year pushed the cliff for those tokens out to 2028. Only about 32% of the 100 billion total supply circulates today. We tracked that whole saga in our WLFI one year recap.

An earlier unlock cuts both ways. Presale holders finally get liquidity. The market gets a wall of supply from people who bought at $0.015 and have watched the price fall from $0.40 to under 5 cents. Pairing an unlock with a buyback is the obvious way to soften that, which may be why both hints landed on the same day.

For now it is a tease, not a proposal. Nothing has been put to a governance vote. I will believe an early unlock when there is a date on it.

Justin Sun vs WLFI: The UAE Twist

Justin Sun is back, and this time the fight is about where the case gets heard. Sun sued WLFI in April over roughly $45 million in frozen tokens. In August, Judge James Donato kept Sun’s individual claims in federal court and refused to push everything into private arbitration. We broke down who actually won that hearing at the time.

Days after that hearing, WLFI amended its corporate disclosure. The company originally listed Florida as its only citizenship. The revised filing names 22 entities in the ownership chain, with citizenship in Florida, Delaware, Puerto Rico and the United Arab Emirates. That last one matters because federal diversity jurisdiction does not apply when foreign parties sit on both sides. Sun is not a US citizen either. So the UAE disclosure could boot his case out of federal court entirely.

On November 2, Sun’s lawyers filed a motion for sanctions. They want $263,821.20 in fees for the months spent fighting the arbitration motion in a court WLFI now says was the wrong one. Sun announced it on X the next day, writing that WLFI “was proudly American when it was selling tokens.” He says he will refile in California state court if the federal case dies. Judge Donato hears the sanctions motion on December 10.

Add that to the Florida defamation suit WLFI filed against Sun, and the earlier lawsuit twists, and you have a case that will outlive this token’s price action.

Where TRUMP and WLFI Trade Now

Two days ago, in our Trump coin midterms post, TRUMP had just dropped 10% to $1.44 while most of the market was green. It did not stop there. TRUMP trades at $1.21 as I write this, about 29% below its level a week ago. WLFI sits at $0.046 after dipping as low as $0.044 on Thursday. Both tokens fell harder than Bitcoin during the AI selloff, so the midterm discount is still widening.

The thesis from that post has not changed. From January 3, Democrats chair House Oversight, Judiciary and Financial Services, plus Senate Banking. Every letter they wrote about the WLFI bank charter and the Circle shareholder lawsuit turns into a subpoena option. Trump Media moving its Bitcoin collateral around the same week will not go unnoticed by those committees either.

Everything we have written on the project lives on the World Liberty Finance tag.

My Positions and the Third Dinner

Full disclosure, as always. My WLFI is 80% locked, bought in the presale at $0.015. I sold the unlocked 20% around $0.20, so the locked bag is house money that is now heading toward zero on the chart. I follow it with interest rather than hope. An early unlock would at least let me decide what to do with it.

TRUMP is a different story. I hold a position hedged with a perp short, because I am still competing on the leaderboard for the third Trump dinner in Washington on November 22. The snapshot closes November 12, so the hedge stays on until then and the tokens stay until the dinner.

The dinner itself should be interesting this time. At the Mar-a-Lago gala the mood was relaxed and the token was at least stable. This time the room will have a Bitcoin treasury under pressure, a buyback that may or may not burn, an unlock that may or may not happen, and a Congress that can issue subpoenas in seven weeks. There will be plenty to discuss with the other holders.

Final Words

One week, three Trump crypto stories, one common thread: liquidity. Trump Media may need cash by November 30 and just moved its collateral Bitcoin to an exchange. WLFI needs demand for its token and announced buybacks with an unlock tease attached. Justin Sun needs a courtroom and is fighting to keep one. None of it is resolved, and all of it lands before a Democratic Congress takes its seats.

Watch the Crypto.com address for the Bitcoin, the WLFI governance forum for the unlock, and the December 10 hearing for Sun. I will update this post as each one lands.
