What Is $PONS? A Deeper Dive Into Robinhood Chain’s Launchpad Token

August 12, 2026
what is pons token guide

Update, September 3, 2026: Refreshed with the latest burn figures (29% of supply), the new all-time high, current trading venues including Hyperliquid and Bybit perps, and the outcome of my position.

All the action in crypto right now seems to happen inside the Robinhood ecosystem. We’ve already covered the different opportunities in multiple articles, whether that’s farming, NFTs, meme coins, or launchpads. Today we’re zooming in on the token at the center of it all.

$PONS deserves a deeper dive. The token survived a brutal launchpad war, burned over a quarter of its supply, and just posted one of the strongest recoveries on the chain. Let’s break down the mechanics, the price action, and where I stand with my own position.

What Is Pons?

Pons is the native launchpad of Robinhood Chain, and $PONS is its token. The platform, aka Pons Family, lets anyone launch a token on the chain, with trading fees flowing back into the protocol. Think of it as the pump.fun of the Robinhood ecosystem, but with tokenomics designed to reward holders instead of just the platform.

We flagged Pons early. It was one of the first tokens we highlighted when Robinhood Chain started trending, back in our top Robinhood memes roundup. Since then, the project shipped a v2, picked up Binance Wallet support through Meme Rush, and became the benchmark every competing launchpad gets measured against.

Token Mechanics: Burns, Treasury, and the Flywheel

Here’s where $PONS gets interesting. The token launched with a 1 billion max supply, but that number shrinks constantly thanks to aggressive burn mechanics.

The team confirmed the milestone on X on August 11th: 27% of the total $PONS supply has now been burned. On-chain data backs this up. The burn wallet holds roughly 268 million tokens, leaving an effective supply of around 732 million.

The second engine is the Pons Treasury. It accumulates $PONS using 80% of protocol fee revenue. Every token launched on the platform generates fees, most of those fees buy $PONS, and burns keep shrinking what’s left to buy.

That’s the flywheel, and right now it’s working:

  • More launches → more protocol fees
  • More fees → more Treasury accumulation (80% of revenue)
  • Ongoing burns → shrinking supply
  • Shrinking supply + constant buy pressure → number go up

Simple, brutal, effective.

Burn Update: 29% of the Supply Is Now Gone

Since this guide first went live, the burn counter kept climbing. Pons confirmed on August 29 that 29% of the total supply has been burned, with the Treasury still routing 80% of protocol fee revenue into PONS accumulation. On-chain trackers show roughly 288 million tokens sitting in the dead address, which leaves an effective supply of about 712 million. Every busy day on the launchpad shrinks that float a little further, and Robinhood Chain just printed its biggest DEX volume day ever on August 30.

Why the Market Cap Doesn’t Match the Price

Quick math lesson, because this trips people up. A token with a 1 billion supply trading at 40-45 cents should sit somewhere around a $400-450 million market cap. Look up $PONS, though, and you’ll find it closer to $290 million at the time of writing.

Burns explain the gap. Market cap runs on circulating supply, and with 29% of all tokens permanently destroyed, only ~712 million still count. That makes the price per token look rich relative to the market cap compared to a standard 1 billion supply coin.

There’s a second effect worth understanding: the supply shrinks every single day. A market cap target you set this week assumes more tokens exist than will actually be around next month. Price targets and market cap targets drift apart on a deflationary token, so pick one metric and stick with it when you chart.

Where to Buy, Sell, or Trade $PONS

Liquidity has spread well beyond a single venue since launch. On the DEX side, most spot volume runs through the Uniswap V3 and V4 pools on Robinhood Chain, and the FOMO app remains the easiest gasless route for beginners. Centralized spot traders can pick up $PONS on MEXC or Gate, which currently hosts the most active PONS/USDT pair.

Perps arrived too. Hyperliquid runs the deepest $PONS perpetual market by volume, and Bybit recently listed a PONSUSDT contract with leverage up to 20x. Leverage on a token this volatile cuts both ways, so size positions accordingly.

Price Action: The Launchpad War and the Comeback

$PONS has already lived three lives in under a month:

  1. The run-up. The token exploded off its mid-July lows near $0.0033 and ripped to an all-time high of $0.066 on July 27.
  2. The launchpad war. We covered the launchpad war as it unfolded. When Uniswap dropped its own launchpad on Robinhood Chain and out-launched Pons on day one, $PONS got hammered. Price collapsed all the way down to the $0.016 area as the market panicked about competition.
  3. The recovery. Fast forward to today, and the token trades around $0.045, up over 80% in the past week. The market seems to have concluded that burns plus Treasury buying beat panic.
  4. The moonshot. The recovery didn’t stop at the old high. $PONS went vertical through late August and printed a fresh all-time high of $0.4921 on September 1 — a 10x from where this guide originally left off. It trades around $0.40-0.45 as I write this update.

A drawdown of that size followed by a V-shaped bounce tells you something. Holders who understood the tokenomics didn’t sell the war — they bought it.

My Position

Time for receipts — closing receipts, this time. I told you I was buying $PONS when I covered the Pons launchpad, and I entered around a $23 million market cap. My target was $100 million. We blew straight through it, and I sold my stack in pieces all the way up to a $280 million market cap.

Best trade of the summer, and I never had to time the top. Scaling out on the way up did that work for me. I’m flat now, but this isn’t goodbye. Crypto always serves up dips eventually, and when a proper one hits $PONS, I plan to re-enter.

Final Words

$PONS went from launchpad darling to war casualty to comeback story in the span of four weeks. The burn mechanics are real, the Treasury accumulation is verifiable on-chain, and the flywheel keeps spinning as long as people keep launching tokens on the platform.

Competition from Uniswap’s launchpad isn’t going away, and that remains the biggest risk. But if Pons keeps its spot as the go-to launchpad on the fastest-growing chain in crypto, the current market cap still looks small. As always, this is not financial advice — size your positions accordingly and never risk more than you can afford to lose.

FAQ

What is $PONS? $PONS is the native token of Pons, the leading launchpad on Robinhood Chain. The token benefits from protocol fee revenue through Treasury accumulation and continuous supply burns.

How much of the $PONS supply has been burned? As of September 2026, 29% of the total supply is gone — roughly 288 million out of the original 1 billion tokens, leaving an effective supply of around 712 million.

Why did $PONS crash in early August? Uniswap launched a competing launchpad on Robinhood Chain that out-launched Pons on its first day. The competition scare sent $PONS from its $0.066 all-time high down to the $0.016 range before the token recovered.

Where can I buy $PONS? Spot liquidity sits on Uniswap V3 and V4 on Robinhood Chain, plus centralized listings on MEXC and Gate. For derivatives, Hyperliquid and Bybit both run $PONS perpetuals.

Is $PONS a meme coin? Not really. While it lives in a meme-heavy ecosystem, $PONS has actual utility as a launchpad token with fee revenue, Treasury buying, and burn mechanics tied to platform usage.
