What Is StonkFun? The Stock-Paired Solana Launchpad Explained

September 8, 2026
StonkFun: The Launchpad Pairing Memecoins With Stocks

Update, October 8, 2026: Refreshed with STONK tokenomics, the $90 million in holder rewards, new competition from Pump.fun, and the outcome of my trade plan.

StonkFun is a Solana launchpad where anyone can launch a token paired against tokenized stocks, ETFs, or other crypto. Its native token, STONK, trades against a tokenized S&P 500 tracker. In addition, the platform spends about 60% of its revenue on buying STONK and burning it.

That is the short answer. The longer one starts with a trade I missed.

StonkFun taught me an expensive lesson in early September: the market does not wait for family time. I had STONK on my watchlist at a $50 million market cap, ready to pull the trigger. Then I got busy riding roller coasters with my kids on our trip in the Netherlands. By the time I checked the charts again, it had blasted past $150 million. A 3x in a day, and I watched none of it happen.

Zero regrets on the roller coasters. Plenty of regrets on the entry. Let’s break down what StonkFun is, why it exploded, and how it looks one month later.

What Is StonkFun?

StonkFun is a Solana launchpad with one twist that changes everything. Tokens on the platform launch paired against tokenized stocks and ETFs instead of SOL or a stablecoin. Creators can also pair against pre-IPO tokens, commodities, memes, and major coins like ZEC, HYPE, AAVE, or NEAR.

The flagship example is STONK, the platform’s own token. It went live on July 23, 2026, in a STONK/SPYx pool on Raydium. SPYx is a tokenized S&P 500 tracker from Backed. In other words, the pool prices STONK in index units rather than dollars or SOL.

The launchpad itself opened on August 3, 2026. Since then, it has become the second-largest launchpad token after PUMP, which we measured in our STONK vs PONS comparison.

Why STONK Pumped 250% in a Day

The trigger was an integration with Raydium’s LaunchLab, announced on September 5. New tokens created on StonkFun will deploy through LaunchLab going forward. That brings cheaper launches, less sniping at deployment, and liquidity that migrates into Raydium pools once bonding completes.

Traders loved it. STONK ripped more than 250% in 24 hours and tagged an all-time high of $0.212 on September 6. Daily volume hit roughly $135 million.

The pump spilled over into the whole routing stack too. RAY jumped about 46% while JUP gained around 21%, as StonkFun volume flowed through both platforms.

The run did not stop there. StonkFun flipped Pump.fun in daily revenue on September 6, then passed Pons four days later. Daily revenue peaked near $2.5 million on September 11. Meanwhile, STONK topped out around a $350 million market cap that same month.

We have a dedicated guide, on how to buy $STONK for the first time.

The SPYx Pairing, Without the Rose Tint

Here’s the part most people trading STONK don’t fully understand. A token paired against SPYx has two moving parts in its dollar price. One is the value of SPYx itself, which tracks the S&P 500. The other is the token’s exchange rate against SPYx, set by buyers and sellers in the pool.

So yes, STONK can dump on a day the stock market pumps. And holding a stock-paired memecoin gives you zero claim on the underlying shares. No dividends, no shareholder rights, nothing. You’re trading a meme that happens to be priced in index units. Know that before you size up.

STONK Tokenomics: Buybacks and Burns

STONK launched with a fixed supply of 1 billion tokens. There was no presale, no disclosed team allocation, and no vesting schedule. Mint authority is revoked, so the supply can only shrink.

The shrinking comes from revenue. Roughly 60% of platform fees buy STONK on the open market, and those tokens get burned. Pairs quoted in STONK itself burn their fees directly. As a result, more than 150 million STONK is already gone, over 15% of the supply.

That makes STONK a revenue bet dressed as a meme. Busy launch days speed up the burn. Quiet days slow it down, and the price has followed revenue closely so far.

Holder Rewards: $90 Million and Counting

Buybacks are only half the machine. Many StonkFun coins carry a 1% to 3% tax on trading volume. The platform converts that tax into the coin’s quote asset and sends it straight to holders.

For example, ZCAT pays its holders in Zcash, while stock-paired coins pay out tokenized shares. By early October, StonkFun reported over $90 million in rewards distributed across its ecosystem.

However, every dollar of those rewards comes from other traders. There is no outside yield. High volume means fat payouts, and dead volume means none. We also looked at the regulatory side in are tokenized stock airdrops legal.

My Trade Plan: The Entry That Never Came

Full transparency, as always. In early September I wanted STONK at $50 million and missed it. My backup plan was an entry around $80 million.

That zone never came. Instead, STONK ran to roughly $350 million within days. It has cooled off a lot since that peak. I hold no STONK right now

Do I regret waiting? A little. Still, the rule stands: missing a trade costs nothing, while forcing one usually does. I would look again on a deep pullback, but only if daily revenue stabilizes first.

The Risks: What Can Break StonkFun

Launchpad revenue is the most reflexive number in crypto. StonkFun’s daily revenue fell to roughly a fifth of its peak within three weeks. Pons followed almost the same curve before it, as our Pons vs Pump.fun breakdown showed.

Competition is the second problem. Pump.fun added tokenized stock pairs on September 9 and launched its own Holder Rewards three days later. Therefore, StonkFun no longer owns the model it made famous.

On top of that, most StonkFun revenue comes from tokens less than a day old. The platform needs a constant stream of fresh launches. Finally, the team is pseudonymous, and the buyback is a stated policy rather than a hard-coded rule.

Where StonkFun Fits in the Stock-Meme Trend

Stock-paired tokens went from curiosity to full narrative in a matter of weeks. We just covered the airdrops on tokenized stocks, and launchpads keep multiplying around the theme. Long.xyz runs a similar stock-meme model, while Pons churns out thousands of launches per day on Robinhood’s network.

One clarification, because the names confuse people: StonkFun has no connection to StonkBrokers, the NFT project we reviewed in August. Similar branding, completely different teams and products.

StonkFun started the stock-pairing trend on Solana, but it now shares that lane with bigger rivals. We rank the whole field in our list of the biggest Robinhood launchpads, where StonkFun earns a spot despite living on another chain.

Final Words

StonkFun earned its breakout. The Raydium integration was real product news, the burns are verifiable, and holders have collected $90 million in rewards. None of that makes STONK a safe hold, though. Its value depends on launch volume, and launch volume moves fast in both directions.

So treat it as a trade, with levels and discipline. Watch daily revenue before you watch the chart. I’ll keep this page updated as the numbers change, hopefully with fewer roller coasters between me and my fills.
