What is Plasma?
Plasma is a financial network for stablecoins, with Plasma One as its consumer app for holding, sending, spending, and earning with digital dollars. Its underlying Plasma Network is an independent Proof-of-Stake Layer 1 designed for fast stablecoin payments.
Plasma One connects stablecoins with everyday financial tools: users can fund their account with crypto or local currency, send money globally, withdraw through supported bank rails, and spend through a Visa card at more than 175 million merchants across 180+ countries.
The card is issued by Rain and works with Apple Pay and Google Pay in supported regions. Plasma One is non-custodial, so users keep direct control of their stablecoins.
$XPL is the native token securing Plasma’s Proof-of-Stake network. Validators stake $XPL to confirm transactions and earn protocol rewards, while delegated staking is planned to let holders participate without running their own validator. $XPL is also used across Plasma One for cashback, referral rewards, deposits, and access to higher membership tiers.
The company is headquartered in London and raised $24 million across seed rounds led by Framework and Bitfinex, followed by a separate strategic investment from Founders Fund.
