Sophon Shutdown: Withdraw Your Funds Before November 25

October 20, 2026
Sophon raised $70M, sold 121,000 nodes and is now closing its chain. Withdraw SOPH, ETH, Guardian rewards and farm deposits before November 25, 2026.

The Sophon shutdown is official. Sophon will permanently close its mainnet on November 30, 2026. However, the real deadline is November 25, because key infrastructure and the official websites start going offline after that date. Anything left on the chain after that may be gone for good. So, if you ever farmed Sophon, bought a Guardian node, or bridged a few dollars over, this is your cue to check.

Here is the short version. First, withdraw your SOPH, ETH and USDC from Sophon Chain. Then, claim any pending staking or Guardian rewards. Finally, pull any unclaimed Sophon Farm assets. All three steps run through the official Sophon channels, and I cover them below.

What the Sophon shutdown announcement says

Sophon posted the final timeline on X on October 19. The team had already announced in June that the chain would wind down. Back then, there was no hard date. Now there is.

The mainnet stops on November 30, 2026. Before that, on November 25, Sophon begins shutting down critical infrastructure. That includes the bridge, RPC endpoints, the frontend and the verification network. In other words, the chain may still exist on November 28, but you may have no way to interact with it.

For that reason, Sophon itself tells users to treat November 25 as the deadline, not November 30. I would go further and do it this week. Bridges tend to get slow and expensive when thousands of people rush them in the last days. We saw the same thing during the Blast shutdown this month.

How to withdraw from Sophon before the deadline

There are three buckets of funds, and each has its own exit. Please use only the official Sophon domains. Phishing sites love a shutdown, because panicked users click anything.

Liquid assets. Any SOPH, ETH, USDC or other tokens sitting in your Sophon wallet go out through claim.sophon.com. Connect the wallet you used on the chain and follow the withdrawal flow to Ethereum.

Staking and Guardian rewards. Pending staking rewards and unclaimed Guardian node rewards also run through claim.sophon.com. Sophon has stated that staked SOPH and vSOPH are being moved to Ethereum automatically, but any unclaimed rewards still need an active claim from you. Do not assume it happened on its own.

Sophon Farm. If you deposited ETH, stETH or eETH into the farm back in 2024 and never touched it again, those assets live at farm.sophon.xyz. Many farmers forgot about this one. Check it even if you think the balance is zero.

After each step, verify the funds arrived on Ethereum mainnet before closing the tab. Also, check every wallet you used. Airdrop farmers often spread deposits across several addresses, and the small ones are the easiest to forget.

How Sophon got here

Sophon raised around $70 million to become the entertainment chain inside the ZKsync ecosystem. The bulk of that came from the Guardian node sale in spring 2024, which moved roughly 121,000 nodes and brought in about $60 million. Retail bought a large share of those nodes.

Next came Sophon Farm in June 2024. Deposit ETH or liquid staking tokens, earn points, wait for the token. The mainnet followed in December 2024 on the ZK Stack. Then, in May 2025, SOPH launched with an airdrop and went straight onto Binance.

The chain never found its users. By the time of the June 2026 pivot announcement, Sophon was serving roughly 100 to 200 daily active users and earning around $30 a day in fees. Meanwhile, running the chain cost about $3.4 million a year. The founder put it plainly: the value is in the apps, not in the infrastructure.

So, on June 25, 2026, Sophon stopped accepting deposits and announced the move to Base. The first product is Pyre, a payments app the team calls “entertainment finance.” A few days later, Sophon burned more than 46.5 million SOPH from unused staking rewards and node buybacks. In August, Guardian NFTs migrated to Ethereum. Now, in October, the final dates are set.

What this means for SOPH holders

SOPH trades around $0.0017 at the time of writing, with a market cap near $8 million. The token dropped about 16% in the 24 hours after the shutdown date went public. It is down more than 90% from its launch price.

Think about that for a second. The entire market cap of SOPH is now smaller than what retail paid for Guardian nodes in 2024. Every node buyer, every farmer and every Binance airdrop recipient sits far underwater.

The token itself survives the shutdown. SOPH moves to Ethereum and Base, and the team promises product revenue will fund buybacks and burns. Whether Pyre ever earns enough to matter is a different question. For now, the only certain thing is the withdrawal deadline.

The chain shutdown wave is not over

Sophon is the fourth shutdown we have covered in a month. Blast closed its bridge interface on October 26. Blur retires its frontend on November 12, which we broke down in the Blur shutdown post. Abstract, the Pudgy Penguins chain, closes on December 15, and the Abstract shutdown guide has those steps. Redstone and Syndicate also shut down earlier this year.

The pattern is the same every time. A team raises big money in 2024, launches a chain, gets a token out, and then discovers nobody uses the chain. The app layer wins, and Base collects the refugees.

For airdrop farmers, the lesson is practical. Points on a chain that may not exist in two years are a different bet than points on a chain with real volume. Keep farming, but keep a list of every chain where you have funds parked. Then, every few weeks, run through it. That habit has saved me stuck bridge funds more than once.

If you want fresh opportunities instead of dead chains, browse the latest airdrops and look for projects with actual users.

Final Words

The Sophon shutdown closes the book on one of the biggest node sales of 2024. The mainnet ends on November 30, but November 25 is the date that matters. Withdraw your liquid assets, claim your rewards, and empty the farm before then.

Honestly, most people reading this have a few dollars at most still sitting on Sophon. Still, a few dollars across a few wallets adds up, and leaving it behind is pure waste. Take ten minutes, check your wallets, and move on.

FAQ

When does Sophon shut down?

Sophon mainnet permanently shuts down on November 30, 2026. The withdrawal deadline is November 25, 2026, because infrastructure and websites begin closing after that date.

How do I withdraw funds from Sophon?

Withdraw liquid assets like SOPH, ETH and USDC through claim.sophon.com. Pending staking and Guardian rewards use the same site. Unclaimed Sophon Farm assets must be withdrawn at farm.sophon.xyz.

What happens to SOPH after the shutdown?

SOPH continues to exist on Ethereum and Base. Gas and staking utility on Sophon Chain ends, and the team plans to fund buybacks and burns from product revenue.

What happens if I miss the November 25 deadline?

Sophon has stated that assets left on the chain after the deadline may become permanently inaccessible. There is no guaranteed recovery path, so do not count on one.

Why did Sophon shut down its chain?

Running the chain cost around $3.4 million a year while it served only 100 to 200 daily users. The team decided to stop maintaining infrastructure and build consumer apps on Base instead.
