StonkFun rewards are automatic payouts to holders of reward coins on the StonkFun launchpad. Each reward coin taxes its transfers by 1% or 3%. The platform converts that tax into the coin’s paired asset, such as Zcash or tokenized Nvidia, and sends it to holders.
There is no staking and no claim button. You hold the coin, and the payouts arrive in your wallet. By October 2026, StonkFun reported more than $90 million distributed this way.
That sounds like free money. It is not, and this guide explains why. New to the platform? Read our StonkFun explainer first.
How StonkFun Rewards Work
Every launch on StonkFun picks a quote token. That is the asset the coin trades against. For a reward coin, it is also the asset holders get paid in.
The process runs in four steps:
- Someone buys, sells, or moves the coin.
- The transfer tax takes its cut.
- The platform collects those fees until the pot is worth paying out.
- It then splits the pot across holders, pro rata.
As a result, a bigger bag earns a bigger share. Payouts usually come in the paired asset. In some cases, however, they come in the coin itself. That happens when the platform holds a large share of its supply.
The Transfer Tax: 1% or 3%
Newer reward coins fund their payouts with a tax on every transfer. The creator sets it at 1% or 3% at launch, and it never changes. Earlier reward coins worked differently. Those route about 85% of a 4% pool fee to holders instead.
The tax applies in both directions. Therefore, a round trip in a 3% coin costs you about 6% before any price move. A $1,000 buy pays $30 in tax, and the sale pays it again.
That math matters for short-term traders. Rewards favor people who hold. Flippers mostly pay for everyone else’s payouts.
Who Qualifies for Rewards
Most reward coins set a minimum of $20 worth of the token. Hold less, and you receive nothing. Hold more, and your share scales with your balance.
You do not need to register anywhere. In addition, you never connect your wallet to a claim site. Any page asking you to “claim StonkFun rewards” is a scam.
Where you hold also matters. Self-custody wallets receive payouts directly. I got tokenized SpaceX rewards from a similar coin on another chain, and they simply appeared in my FOMO balance. We cover how the app handles this in our FOMO app review.
What You Get Paid In
The paired asset decides everything. Here are the main types:
- Crypto majors: Zcash, NEAR, HYPE, and others
- Tokenized stocks: Nvidia, DraftKings, and more
- Commodities: tokenized gold
- STONK: the platform’s own token
The best-known example is ZCAT, the cat that pays in Zcash. For a ranked overview of what each coin pays, see our list of the best StonkFun coins.
Keep one thing in mind, though. Your payout has its own price risk. A reward in a falling asset shrinks after it lands.
The Flywheel: A Second Mechanism
Rewards are not the only engine. A share of trading fees from reward coins also flows into the Ecosystem Flywheel. It buys the platform’s largest tokens on the open market and burns them.
Bigger coins receive a bigger share of those buybacks. Consequently, size feeds itself while volume holds. Still, the flywheel is separate from holder rewards. It reduces supply, but it pays you nothing directly.
Where the Money Really Comes From
Here is the part many holders miss. Every reward dollar comes from other traders. There is no business underneath and no outside yield.
So the system depends on volume. High volume means large payouts. When attention moves on, the payouts shrink, and holders lose their reason to stay.
Rewards also do not protect the price. Some StonkFun coins have paid out more than their entire current market cap. Their holders collected the payouts and still lost money on the token.
In short, treat rewards as a rebate on risk, not as income. The same logic applies to the tokenized stock airdrops we covered earlier. The legal side is a separate question, which we tackled in are tokenized stock airdrops legal.

Final Words
StonkFun rewards are simple on the surface. Hold at least $20 of a reward coin, and the paired asset shows up in your wallet. Underneath, a transfer tax moves money from active traders to patient holders.
That design works while volume flows. Before buying, check the tax rate, the paired asset, and how much trading the coin still sees. Would you rather set the rules yourself? Then read how to launch a token on StonkFun.
